FORMAT

The Lisbowl was designed to allow your team to make the most out of the 2 intense days of exciting competition. The tournament will be divided into:

  • Saturday (Group-Stage/Playoffs)

  • Sunday (Finals and Placement Games)

REGULATION

The Lisbowl Festival 2026 will be played in accordance with IFAF rules, with the following adaptations specific to the tournament format:

1. GAME FORMAT

1.1 Group Stage and Classification Games

  • Two halves of 16 minutes each

  • Running clock

  • Approximate total duration: 40 minutes

1.2 Semi-finals

  • Two halves of 16 minutes each

  • Running clock

  • Last 2 minutes of each half in stopped clock

  • Approximate total duration: 50 minutes

1.3 Final

  • Two halves of 18 minutes each

  • Last 2 minutes of each half in stopped clock

  • Each team has 2 timeouts per half

  • Approximate total duration: 70 minutes

2. GENERAL RULES

2.1 Timeouts

Timeouts are not allowed during:

  • Group stage

  • Semi-finals

2.2 Ball Possession (Group Stage and Classification)

  • There will be no coin toss or formal presentations

  • The team designated as “home”:

    • Starts the 1st half with possession

  • The team designated as “away”:

    • Starts the 2nd half with possession

2.3 Semi-finals and Final

Standard official procedures apply, including:

  • Coin toss

  • Official game start rules

2.4 Last Play

• Applicable in all regular season games, where the clock runs continuously.

• When the game clock reaches 0:00, the referee announces “last play”.

• The ongoing play will be the final play of the game.

• The game only ends after that play has been completed.

3. FINAL NOTES

  • All teams must be ready at the scheduled time

  • Adherence to the game schedule is essential for the smooth operation of the tournament

  • Any situations not covered will be resolved by the organization and officiating crew
